FORT MYERS, FL (June 8, 2020) – The Lee County Homeless Coalition is proud to announce awards to member agencies for a total of $32,500.

For several years, the Lee County Homeless Coalition has used the profits from fundraisers to assist member agencies who may have encountered diminished funding, an increase in need, or who want to address a specific issue.

The usual process is to make funds available through a community grant. This year, due to the impact of COVID-19, our procedure changed. Thousands in our area were struggling to put food on the table and our member agencies increased their services. Food Pantries and free meals were priorities for our community. Urgent assistance was necessary. The Coalition responded by donating $7,000 in total in April, $1,000 each to Community Cooperative, Fort Myers Rescue Mission, Harry Chapin Food Bank, Midwest Food Bank, St. Martin de Porres, The Salvation Army and We Care Outreach for emergency funding in April.

The Coalition distributed funds again in the amount of $25,500. In its place, the Coalition distributed a simple survey inquiring to agency needs. The Coalition was pleased to be able to offer this funding to our members and assist those who needed help. The following member agencies received funding:

  • Affordable Homeownership Foundation- $3,000
  • Cape Coral Caring Center- $3,000
  • Lehigh Community Center-$2,000
  • Our Mother’s Home-$1,500
  • Goodwill of SWFL- $1,500
  • Jewish Family & Children Services-$1,500
  • St. Martin de Porres-$1,500
  • Beacon of Hope PI-$2,000
  • Gladiolus Food Pantry-$2,000
  • Hearts and Homes for Veterans-$1,000
  • Children’s Network of SWFL-$2,000
  • We Care Outreach-$1,500
  • Community Cooperative-$2,000
  • St. Mathew’s House-$1,000
