Council on Homelessness 2016 Annual Report

Executive Summary

In 2001, the State of Florida created an interagency Council on Homelessness, implementing what is now a national best practice. The purpose of the Council is to develop policy and make recommendations on how to reduce homelessness throughout the state. Pursuant to section 420.622(9), Florida Statutes, the Council on Homelessness submits its annual report to the Governor and Florida Legislature summarizing recommended actions to reduce homelessness, plus data concerning those persons currently experiencing homelessness in Florida. Since the Council’s last report, Florida has seen an 8.18 percent reduction in homelessness.
