19th Annual Homeless Service Day & Veteran Stand Down

The Lee County Homeless Coalition will host the 19th annual Homeless Service Day and Veteran Stand Down on Saturday, February 2, 2019, at the City of Palms Stadium. The opening ceremony will begin at 8:45 a.m. During this event the coalition will also conduct an annual census to determine the number of homeless in our community. The count is a tally of who is homeless on a given night and provides a snapshot of those who experience homelessness throughout the year. Collecting good data about this population is essential to understanding the causes of homelessness and designing effective responses.

We are in need of volunteers to assist with the event and to help with our annual census. The census will also be conducted at various outreach sites in the community. Training for the census will take place on January 17, 8:30 a.m. at The Salvation Army, Chapel, 2400 Edison Avenue, Ft. Myers. This will be during the regular coalition meeting.

If you are interested in volunteering for the Annual PIT Census at any of the new locations this year, at the Homeless Service Day and Veteran Stand Down, or if your agency is interested in having a table at the Homeless Service Day and Veterans Stand Down, please register at www.homelesscount.com.
